This is a direct attack on the nature of man by bro. Stone. To deny that man is essentially evil, is to disagree with the Apostle Paul who lamented, "Oh wretched man that I am". Paul's perception of the matter was sharper than bro. Stone's. He wrote: "ROM 7:18 For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.

Paul recognized in his flesh a will which was contrary to God. It is this will, or sin nature which is the root of all evil, and causes us to do "that which we would not". Jesus, had this same will, common to all men. In the garden prior to his crucifixion, he lamented "not my will, but thine be done," an admission that he like Paul had a will which was contrary to the will of God. Being contrary to God's will, our own will, which exists "in me, that is, in my flesh" can be nothing but evil.
